What is the connection between the Foundation and Amriteswari Society? |
Both the Foundation and Society serves only one master, that is, Amma. Hence, one should not segregate between one or the other. The Foundation does not operate on membership and Amma herself personally select the trustees to run the Foundation which She herself is the Supreme Trustee. |

I notice that some of the activities like Food fair and health camp were conducted by the Society in the past. Are the people involved in the Foundation activities are different from the Society members and the Foundation has his own people to conduct the various activities? Will there be overlap of the activities conducted by the Society and Foundation? If so, members will get confused. |
The Society has been around for a while, whereas the Foundation was only formed in Feb 2006. All assets comes under the Foundation. The Foundation concern is on a long term basis making sure the assets under its care is fully utilized and permanent. Funds are being raised to make sure the assets donated by Amma's devotees will be directed to the cause. All devotees of Amma are encouraged to participate and they can registered their interest as per stated in the website. As mentioned earlier, there is no prerequisite for devotees to participate. You need not to be a member of the society to do so. All are Amma's children. There will not be an overlap of activities. As mentioned, we will be running a permanent free clinic, permanent community service centre and single mothers' centre. The Foundation does not go to various places to conduct activities. The Foundation would wish to see volunteers to come to the various premises to offer their services. The website of the Foundation will be updated constantly of the various activities it will be conducting. We are certain you will also be updated by the Society of the various events they conduct. Confusion only arises when one view the Society and Foundation as separate causes which in essence, is not. All work done by both the Society and Foundation are one and the same, to assist the poor and needy in the best ability they can. This is the essence of Amma's teachings. |

Does the Foundation give certain amount of money to Society to run it's activities? As far as I know that the Society has to spned money for the maintainance like Satsang, health camp, Swamiji's visit and AMMA's visit.I am sure it needs money for that. Money donated to the Foundation is tax free, but not donated to the Society at present. This will encourage the people to donate to the Foundation and not to the Society leading to less income to the Society. |
The Society is run by elected members. The Foundation does not interfere with its activities and so far the Society is doing an excellent job. Donation should come from one's heart and not worried too much about it's tax status. If society members are not happy, then they should address this issue to their Chairman. Again, please remember there is no segregation for its only Amma's name we are all serving. |
